Three verdicts
Three AI reviewers, three opinions. The tables and the session card are the measurements.
The Hunter
7/10 on the chase
The moment it all goes off. Will wait as long as it takes.
Something lands on a third of spins here, which sounds generous until you look at what lands. Two ways, five ways, a few cents, a flicker of gold and back to the reels.

The real thing is the free spins, and across two hundred and one spins it never came.
So I bought it. Sixteen euro, which is eighty times what I was staking, and the game handed back three fifty eight. Then I bought it again and got thirteen ninety. Both times underwater, and the second one felt close enough to make you want a third, which is exactly the feeling I am supposed to be warning you about rather than describing fondly.
The round itself is terrific. Green light, patients in frames, the whole asylum thing Nolimit do better than anyone. If it had arrived on its own at spin ninety I would be writing a very different review.
It did not, and I am not going to pretend otherwise just because I enjoyed the twenty seconds it lasted.
The Grinder
201 spins, nothing to show
Entertainment per euro. How long an evening actually lasts.
Forty euro twenty, two hundred and one spins, and twenty seven euro sixty came back. That is about seventy percent of what went in, over roughly twenty minutes.

Seventy percent sounds survivable, and for one session it is. The thing to understand is that the published return of 96.08 percent is a number measured over millions of spins, not two hundred. Over two hundred you get whatever you get, and what we got was down twelve sixty.
What Mental actually gives you for those twenty minutes is frequent small activity. Something happens often enough that you are never quite bored, and almost none of it is worth anything. That is a design choice and it is a good one for keeping you in a chair.
If you want the evening to last, this is a better companion than Deadwood further down this site, which pays on one spin in twelve. If you want to walk away with money, neither of them is the answer and nor is any of the other sixty two.
Play it in demo. The asylum is just as good when the balance is pretend.
The Skeptic
The buy is the tell
What the interface is doing while you enjoy yourself.
One number is worth your attention and it is not the return to player.

The cheapest way to buy the bonus costs eighty times your stake. We paid it twice, at sixteen euro each, and got back three fifty eight and thirteen ninety. Neither covered the purchase.
That is not an accusation. Two purchases prove nothing about the maths and I am not going to pretend they do. What they illustrate is the shape of the thing: you are paying eighty units for a feature whose average return sits a fraction below the base game, and the variance inside it is wide enough that most individual purchases will lose.
Nolimit publishes the cost of each buy on this game. It does not publish what each buy returns, which True Grit Redemption 2 does. I would like to know why the newer game discloses more than the older one, and until it does, the buy menu here is the one part of the screen where you are being asked to decide without the figure that matters.
Everything else is a well made slot behaving exactly as advertised.
Measured session
017 October 2026, demo mode, minimum stake of 0.20 euro.
02201 spins. One opening spin, then two autoplay runs of 100.
0340.20 euro staked. Finished 12.60 euro down, so a little under 70 percent of the stake came back.
04The free spins bonus never triggered once. Nolimit publishes the frequency as 1 in 216.
05Something landed on roughly a third of spins, which matches the published hit frequency of 34.19 percent. Almost all of it was small.
06The bonus in the clip at the top was bought afterwards for 16 euro, which is 80 times the stake. It paid back 3.58 euro. A second purchase at the same price paid 13.90 euro.
Spin count is exact, since both autoplay runs were set to 100 rounds. Balances are read from the client. The demo client's round history does not resolve in fun mode, so a demo session cannot be independently audited. All frequency figures are Nolimit City's own.
RTP by mode
Base game return to player: 96.08%, the only figure Nolimit City publishes for this game.
Published by Nolimit City in the game's own rules screen.
Nolimit publishes one return figure for this game. Unlike True Grit Redemption 2, the rules screen does not break the return down by mode, so the cost of each buy is published but not what each one returns.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Mental?
96.08 percent, published by Nolimit City. The rules screen does not break this down by mode, so the four feature buys have published costs but no published individual returns. Operators may be supplied a different setting, so check the rules screen in the copy you are playing.
How often does the bonus trigger in Mental?
Nolimit publishes 1 in 216 spins. In our measured session of 201 spins it did not trigger at all, which is an ordinary outcome at that frequency rather than a surprising one.
Is buying the bonus worth it?
The cheapest buy costs 80 times the stake. We bought it twice for 16 euro each and received 3.58 and 13.90 back. Two purchases are not evidence about the average, but the buys on this game are not published with individual return figures, so there is no disclosed number to weigh the cost against.
