Hit Frequency

What is Hit Frequency?

Hit frequency is how often a slot returns any win, expressed as a percentage of spins.

Why it matters

Hit frequency describes the rhythm of play. It explains why two games with the same RTP feel different from the first spin.

Example

25 percent hit frequency means about one spin in four returns something, including returns smaller than the stake.

Common misunderstandings

  • A hit is not a profit. Many recorded hits return less than the amount staked on that spin.

Frequently asked questions

Is hit frequency the same as RTP?

No. Hit frequency counts how often a win lands. RTP measures how much is returned. A game can hit often and still return 96 percent.

Do operators publish hit frequency?

Some game information panels and studio sheets publish it. It is not a required disclosure in the markets covered here.
