How to check a Danish Spillemyndigheden licence

Spillemyndigheden lists Danish licence holders in English. Pick the right list, search the company not the brand, and do not confuse it with ROFUS.

How to check a Danish Spillemyndigheden licence

Denmark's regulator is Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, and it publishes its licence holders in English at spillemyndigheden.dk.

Where to look

The list of licence holders, at spillemyndigheden.dk/en/licence-holders. The authority's own description is plain: "The list provides an overview of the gambling operators who are licensed to offer gambling in Denmark."

The trap in the Danish setup

There is more than one list.

Spillemyndigheden keeps separate lists for different things it licenses. The licence holders list covers operators offering gambling in Denmark. Slot machine licence holders and licensed game suppliers are not on it, they have their own lists.

So a game studio or a slot machine operator can be perfectly licensed in Denmark and absent from the list you happened to open. Before concluding that something is missing, confirm you are looking at the list that covers the thing you are checking.

The entity rule, again

It holds in every market covered on this site. The licence belongs to a company.

Take the operating company from the Danish site's terms, then look for that company rather than for the brand on the homepage.

Denmark's other register, and why it is not this one

ROFUS is the Danish self-exclusion register. Spillemyndigheden describes it as "The Danish Gambling Authority's self exclusion register".

It comes up constantly in searches about Danish gambling and it has nothing to do with checking a licence. ROFUS is where a player registers to exclude themselves. If you are trying to verify an operator, the licence holders list is the page you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Danish list in English?

Yes. Spillemyndigheden publishes the licence holders list on its English site.

The supplier of a game I play is not on the list. Is that a problem?

Probably not. Licensed game suppliers are on a separate list from operators. Check the list that matches what you are verifying before treating an absence as meaningful.

Is ROFUS a way to check whether a casino is licensed?

No. ROFUS is the self-exclusion register for players. Licence verification is the licence holders list.
