Gambling Licence Change Tracker

Original dataset - last checked 2026-09-10 - free to cite with attribution

This page records changes in who holds a gambling licence. A brand can stay the same while the company behind it changes, and that matters because your contract, your complaint route and your dispute body all follow the licence holder rather than the brand.

Nobody else publishes these changes in one place.

Methodology and scope

  • Scope: this tracker is not comprehensive. It covers the changes we have found and verified on a regulator register or in a regulator notice.
  • Evidence rule: an entry is only recorded where the change appears on the regulator's own public register or in a published regulator notice. Press coverage alone is not enough.
  • Regulators used: Gambling Commission, Malta Gaming Authority, Spelinspektionen, Spillemyndigheden, DGOJ, GGL and KSA.
  • Corrections: if you know of a licence change we have missed, or a row that is wrong, the contact route is on our editorial standards page.

Questions this data answers

Why does the licence holder matter more than the brand?

Your contract is with the licensed company, not the brand name on the website. If the licence holder changes, the entity you complain to, the regulator that supervises it and the dispute body that hears your case can all change with it.

Is this list complete?

No. It covers changes we have found and verified on a regulator register or notice. We do not add entries we cannot evidence.

How do I check a licence holder myself?

Search the regulator's public register for the brand or trading name and read the licence summary. Our licence verification methodology sets out how we do it and what each register publishes.
