PoLi deposit not working at a casino

PoLi closed in Australia in 2023 and still runs in New Zealand. The first question is not what went wrong. It is which country you are in.

Why your PoLi deposit is not working

If you are in Australia, PoLi no longer exists. Australia Post closed the Australian service on 30 September 2023. That is the answer to most searches on this, and no amount of troubleshooting will bring the payment back.

If you are in New Zealand, PoLi is still running. It was acquired by Merco Ltd, and POLi's own New Zealand site said at the time that the service would continue uninterrupted for New Zealand merchants and customers.

So the first question is not what went wrong. It is which country you are in. For other methods, see casino deposit pending or missing, by payment method.

If you are in Australia

A casino still listing PoLi as a deposit method is listing something that has not operated in your country since 2023. That is worth noticing on its own. It usually means the cashier page has not been maintained, and it is reasonable to ask what else has not been.

If money has left your account through something labelled PoLi in Australia, it went through a different rail under an old name, and the operator needs to tell you which.

If you are in New Zealand, check these before you contact support

  1. Confirm your bank is supported. POLi lists ANZ, BNZ, ASB, Kiwibank, TSB, The Co-operative Bank, Westpac and Heartland.
  2. Check your bank statement for a completed transfer, not a pending one.
  3. Check whether your bank showed an authorisation step that you closed before it finished. PoLi works by logging into your bank in a window. Closing it early leaves the payment half made.
  4. Check the casino's transaction history, not just the balance.

What to send the operator

The date and time, the amount, your bank, and a screenshot of the line on your bank statement. Ask them to confirm whether the payment reached them and, if it did, what is holding the credit.

When to escalate

PoLi payments are near instant. If your bank shows the money gone and the operator has not credited it within a few hours, put a formal complaint in writing. If the operator stops replying, use the complaints route for the licence it holds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do casinos still advertise PoLi in Australia?

Usually an unmaintained cashier page. The service closed on 30 September 2023.

Is PoLi safe in New Zealand?

It works by asking you to log into your bank through its window, which is why some banks have historically been uncomfortable with it. Check your own bank's position before using it.

Can I get an Australian PoLi payment back?

There is no Australian PoLi to refund it. Ask the operator which payment processor actually took the money, then follow that processor's dispute route.
